This is like a computer game I have where there is a picture, say a turtle with smaller objects to make up the bigger picture and then the smaller ones are things like find 7 ice creams 5 cats 3 fruits. I wanted to take that idea and make it into a colouring book page somehow, but I have never used Inkscape, so no idea how to begin. Subscribed to your channel so will hopefully learn something.

I learn so much from your tutorials great job. I use inkscape to create svg for Blender but finding more work with 2D at the moment. What would be good is to develop a svg logo or branding to use on various items (menu, boxes, business cards, tshirts etc..). What I find funny is when someone shows me artwork created with chatGPT and thinks its cool but want changes. Same prompt with changes will not work.

Im trying to figure out how to draw a shape and then use it to delete the parts around an image that I dont want,so I can cut out the parts I want to keep and leave a transparent background..,(not the clip way) just cant do it..

Thanks very much for this vid (liked and subscribed). I truly love Inkscape and have been drawing in it for years thinking I knew the Bezier tool. But the excises were great and opened up whole new paths for me (sorry, had to do that). But, as a rule, I'd have to say I feel that most applied uses of the tool would have a workflow something like 1. Use the techniques you've shown to get an approximation of your shape, and 2. Fine tune the shape through editing nodes (and it's that feature that I live most about Inkscape -- it's like "sculpting" lines). So glad you came in with the add-on at the end... 😀

Right on!! I have been tracing a photograph of the reformatory from the movie Shawshank Redemption. Have tried every method I could find to have software create vectors automatically and was never happy with the outcome. It's going to get cut into wood on my CNC so I want it defined as much as possible. The best part is I only have to trace half of the image then just mirror that for the other side. I live 5 miles or so from the old prison they used in the movie and have always loved the architecture. Should look great if I get the lines correct. Thanks for making the tutorial!!

Had a question is it possible to cut out portions of the images without using the brush tool ? As in turning the image black and white and only keeping the area that is white and removing the black areas, for example there is a path and grass at both side, you only want the path and remove the grass area.

Welcome back Rick! I have made my custom QR codes in Affinity for a while, where I can clip objects (eg our company logo) inside the QR code in a non-destructive way. I think Inkscape has a similar function albeit perhaps more destructive. Maybe you could show how it works in a future video? Thank you as always. Btw, inkscape had the QR feature way longer than Affinity. Plus Affinity do not have a barcode extension. So well done Inkscape! 😁

You know what I just discovered? You can use any object as a "brick" for QR code. In "Symbols" tab you can input any object ID. So you can create QR Code with hearts, triangles, stars, etc. Magic! :D

I've watched so many vids and not giving up. I want to make a straight line with tab curve out. I will move this to my cutting program to finish divider tabs I partially cut. I accidentally cut my material too small so the knife of the machine cuts my mat. I need it to cut just the left side - one line with the tab sticking out. Actually need 6 tabs, but when I get this figured out, I can do all 6. I just need a single cut line for 6 different bump outs. I have a template that I brought into Inkscape, and traced bitmap to get an outline, but I can't figure out how to cut the top, left, and bottom off to leave just the right side with the tabs. any tips appreciated.
